Meet Irv Gotti. Gotti is the president and CEO of The Inc., a record label formerly known as Murder Inc. He is the hitmaker behind Vanessa Carlton, Ja Rule, Lloyd and others, and his magnetic personality and interesting family life make him the perfect subject for a reality show.
The Baby Daddy Story: Last night Irv had to tell his stepdaughter he is not her biological father. When I interviewed Irv on Fox Reality Channel’s Reality Remix he told me the conversation with his daughter Angie happened over the phone and it was the most emotional and draining moment of his life (this from a man who was acquitted of money laundering for an alleged drug dealer after a long federal trial). On the show Irv’s estranged wife Deb tells him someone at Angie’s school told her she had a different dad and she was left with questions. Irv took his daughter for a walk and talk, he put his arms around her and told her the truth: he is the only father she’s ever had, although he became her dad the moment he met her when she was 11 months old.
Marriage - Gotti Style: Irv has a beautiful “wife” (they are separated), and they sit at home on the couch, talk about their three kids and act like any other married couple sorting out the details of their busy lives. The difference? Irv can’t stop, in his words, “f%@king”. His wife clearly loves him and he is devoted to his family, but there is a machismo side to this angel faced chatty pants that makes it impossible for him to be with only one woman. If he could curb the urge Deb would be the one woman for him, but as long as he has money, power, visibility and access to eager songbirds it looks like the only thing he’s going to curb is the garbage Deb asked him to toss on his way out.
Game On: This show is like a hip-hop reality version of Entourage. You want Irv to do well, the facts of his life are fascinating and there is something about watching a player in action that makes you feel like you’re part of the game.
